My resolutions for 2017

Happy New Year! I can’t believe that 2016 has already ended! 2016 was an exciting year for me on a personal level, and I can’t wait to start 2017. While New Year’s resolutions are always well-intended, they can often be overly ambitious — which is why studies have shown that around 80 percent of them are doomed to failure. Instead of offering life-changing decisions and resolutions, here’s a few ways I think you can easily kick start your new year on a fresh note.

1- Stay focused: Invest in a physical planner for 2017. You can still use your digital calendars, but sometimes seeing your daily, weekly, and monthly plans all written out can help you realize just how much it is you really do. Is there anything that you wanted to do last year that you were unable to finish? Do it tomorrow, don’t wait! Whether it is a book that you want to read (start with one), or chores you want to finish, do it tomorrow! I started writing my task list over this weekend, from books I want to read to wedding ideas I want to include in our wedding ceremony, it’s extremely satisfying when you get organized and stay focused!

2- Get pampered! Is your New Year’s Resolution to take better care of yourself? Making self-care a priority? Did you always crave to have that “me-time” and always postponed it? I used to! Until last week! Book a massage session, get those nerves loosen up! It will make you a much happier person. I actually visited Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in JBR last week, and experienced their Deep Tissue Massage at Breakwater wellness center. The whole experience was super relaxing, and exactly what I needed before the new year. Escape the grind of your busy life, and just go there to relax. There’s a large variety of treatments that you can do!

Donate money, donate your time! It is time to think of others. One of the most important thing to learn is to give back, pray and be grateful. Change starts with you, and being compassionate and aware of what’s happening around you is a crucial learning. 4- Spend time with Family: It might seem like a pretty simple thing to do, however, between technology and busy schedules, many of us are missing out on our own lives. It is never intentional, but it does happen. This is a resolution that will require much dedication and hard work on your part. It is going to mean making a change to your lifestyle. And the rewards you will receive in return will be truly worth it.
